Reforestation -
The trees are well known for their property of giving out oxygen and absorbing harmful gases and most of the pollutants. The quality of air can be improved by planting more and more trees as they clean and filter the air.
Carpooling is sharing of car journeys so that more than one person travels in a car, and prevents the need for others to have to drive to a location themselves. It can not only be energy and time-saving but also beneficial for the nature as it reduces the amount of smoke emitted. So, carpool, use public transportation, bike, or walk whenever possible.
Use of eco-friendly fuel -
We have to adopt the usage of Eco-friendly fuels such as LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), bio-gas, and other eco-friendly fuels. So, we can reduce the amount of harmful toxic gases.
Avoid usage of crackers -
The use of crackers during festivals and weddings is sadly one of the biggest contributors to air pollution, leading to a layer of smog which is extremely harmful for health. So, practice of no crackers should be implemented.
Turn of lights and electric equipments when not in use -
The energy that the lights take also contribute to air pollution, thus less consumption of electricity can save energy. Use energy saving fluorescent lights to help the environment.
Use filters for chimneys - The gas that is emitted from fireplaces in homes and factories are extremely dangerous for air pollution and harms the air quality severely. The use of filters should be used at least if the consumption couldn’t be lessened, this will help to reduce the effect of harmful gases absorbing in the air.
Use fans instead of Air Conditioner (AC) - The usage of AC’s takes a lot of energy and emits a lot of heat which is bad for the environment. AC’s also take a lot of power and energy to work as compared to fans.
Strict policy for industries related to the filter of gases should be introduced in the countries. So, we can minimize the toxins released from factories.
Burning solid fuels, such as in open fires and wood-burning stoves have a significant impact on air pollution. Avoid burning leaves and rubbish in your garden too.
Switch off the engine when stationary - If stationary at traffic lights or in traffic turn off your car engine. Stopping your engine when not needed cuts pollution but can also reduce fuel consumption, saving you money.
Making sure your electricity supplier uses renewable energy helps to reduce the pollution created by power generation.
Keeping your tyres inflated to the manufacturers recommendations will make it more efficient and use less fuel. Your car will create less pollution and you will save money on fuel too.
